Summary
The short version
1. Who we are
perplexitiai.com (“we”, “us”) is an independent, unofficial guide to Perplexity AI. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by Perplexity AI, Inc. This policy applies to this website. When you follow a link to perplexity.ai or another site, that site’s privacy policy applies.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Emails. If you email us, for example from our contact page, we receive your email address, your message and anything you include.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity: pages viewed, time on page, referring site, approximate location (from IP address), device, browser and operating system. Microsoft Clarity also records how you interact with pages, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, to create aggregated heatmaps and session replays.
- Advertising data through Google AdSense: cookies or device identifiers, IP address and ad interactions, used to deliver, measure and, where permitted, personalise ads.
- Server logs kept by our hosting provider, which typically include IP address, date and time, requested page and browser type, for security and reliability.
What we don’t collect
- Passwords, sign-in codes, API keys or payment details. We never ask for them.
- What you type into our calculators, checkers and prompt builders. These run in your browser and aren’t sent to us. If you click “Try on Perplexity”, your text goes to perplexity.ai under Perplexity’s policy.
3. How we use information
- To run, secure and fix the website.
- To understand which guides are useful and improve them.
- To show advertising that helps fund the site.
- To reply to messages and corrections you send.
- To meet legal obligations.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on consent for non-essential cookies, analytics and personalised advertising where the law requires it; on legitimate interests for security, basic site operation and replying to messages; and on legal obligation where required.
4. Third-party services
- Google Analytics (Google LLC): site analytics. How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Google AdSense (Google LLC): advertising. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Google Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation): usage insights, heatmaps and session replays. Clarity is designed to mask sensitive text by default. Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Google Fonts: web fonts are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address. Google Fonts privacy.
- Our hosting provider, which processes server logs on our behalf.
These providers process data under their own privacy policies and may transfer it outside your country.
6. Your choices
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK and US states such as California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict processing; to withdraw consent; and to opt out of targeted advertising or the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.
Most data from analytics and advertising is held by Google and Microsoft, who offer their own tools for these requests. For anything we hold, such as emails you’ve sent us, use the helper below. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Privacy request helper
Builds an email to us in your own email app. Nothing is sent from this page. Don’t include ID documents unless we ask.
8. Retention, security and international transfers
- Emails are kept as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up, then deleted.
- Analytics and advertising data are kept by Google and Microsoft according to their retention settings and policies.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time for security.
We use reasonable measures to protect information, including HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries, using safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where required.
9. Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. We’ll update the effective date at the top, and make significant changes clear on this page.

FAQ
Privacy questions
Do you sell my personal information?
We don’t sell data for money. Our advertising partner, Google, may use cookies to show personalised ads, which some laws (such as California’s) treat as “sharing” or “selling”. You can opt out using the choices described on this page.
Do you see my Perplexity account or searches?
No. We’re not Perplexity and can’t see your Perplexity account, searches or data. Questions you open on perplexity.ai are covered by Perplexity’s own privacy policy.
What happens to what I type into the calculators and tools?
They run in your browser. We don’t receive or store what you type. Copying or clicking “Try on Perplexity” sends the text to Perplexity only when you choose to.
How do I turn off personalised ads?
Use Google’s My Ad Center, your browser’s cookie settings, or industry opt-out pages listed on this page.
How do I make a privacy request?
Use the request helper on this page or our contact page, and tell us what you’d like us to do.
