How to install Perplexity on iPhone and iPad
Open the App Store
On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store, or tap the button on this page to go straight to the official listing.

Check it’s the official app
Open Perplexity - AI Search & Chat and check the developer shows Perplexity AI, Inc., with hundreds of thousands of ratings.
- Fake apps often copy the icon. The developer name is the giveaway.
Tap Get
The app is free. Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple Account password.
- It’s about 190 MB, so Wi-Fi is a good idea.
- Needs iOS or iPadOS 18 or later.
Open and sign in
Ask straight away, or sign in with Apple, Google or email to sync history and Spaces with the web and your other devices.
- Pro subscribers: use the account you subscribed with.
Choose permissions
Allow microphone for voice, photos or camera for image questions, and notifications if you want alerts. Skip what you won’t use.
- Change these any time in Settings › Perplexity.
Quick access
Open Perplexity faster
Set up one or more of these so a question is always a tap or a press away.
- Touch and holdHold an empty area of the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
- Tap EditTap Edit (or +) in the top corner, then Add Widget.
- Choose PerplexitySearch for Perplexity, pick a widget size and tap Add Widget.
- Place itDrag it where you want, then tap Done.
- Touch and hold the Lock ScreenUnlock with Face ID first, then hold the Lock Screen.
- CustomizeTap Customize, then choose Lock Screen.
- Add widgetTap the widget area and choose Perplexity from the list, if available.
- DoneTap Done. Now you can start a question without unlocking fully.
- Open SettingsGo to Settings › Action Button (iPhone 15 Pro and later).
- Choose ShortcutSwipe to Shortcut and tap Choose a Shortcut.
- Pick PerplexitySelect a Perplexity action if the app provides one, or a shortcut you made that opens Perplexity.
- Press and holdNow holding the Action button opens Perplexity.
Open the Shortcuts app, tap +, then Add Action and search for Perplexity to see the actions the app offers. Save the shortcut with a short name, then run it by saying “Hey Siri” followed by the shortcut’s name, or add it to your Home Screen.
Menu names can vary slightly between iOS versions. Widgets and shortcut actions depend on what the current app version offers.

Perplexity iPhone and iPad questions
Is the Perplexity app free on iPhone?
Yes. It’s free to download and use on the Free plan. Perplexity Pro is an optional in-app purchase, listed at $20 a month in the App Store.
What iOS version do I need?
The App Store listing currently requires iOS 18 or later on iPhone and iPadOS 18 or later on iPad. Check the listing, as requirements can change with updates.
Does Perplexity work on iPad?
Yes. The same app supports iPad and uses the larger screen, and your history syncs with your iPhone and the web when you sign in.
How do I cancel Perplexity Pro bought on iPhone?
Open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Perplexity and tap Cancel Subscription. You keep Pro until the end of the billing period. If you subscribed on the web, cancel on perplexity.ai instead.
Can I use Perplexity with the Action button or Siri?
On iPhones with an Action button, you can assign it to a Shortcut. If the Perplexity app offers a shortcut, you can assign it to open the app or start a voice question. You can also add Perplexity actions to the Shortcuts app and run them with Siri.
Why can’t I find Perplexity in the App Store?
It may not be available in your country or region, or your iOS version may be too old. Update iOS, check your Apple Account region, or use perplexity.ai in Safari.
Is Comet available on iPhone?
Yes. Comet, Perplexity’s AI browser, launched on iPhone in March 2026. It’s a separate app from Perplexity.
Is my data private?
Review the data and privacy options in the app’s settings and Perplexity’s privacy policy. Avoid sharing sensitive personal information in questions or uploads.
